Found this red striped chalcedony point in June 2012 in newly planted squash field in Gervais, Oregon, about 500 yards from my office. Stem base type, made by Calapooyan Indians, now extinct, about 1000-3000 years ago. This point is a bit larger than most found, which are usually less than an inch long.

Thanks for interesting link. I have read "The Kalapuyans.." by Mackey, very interesting read, but sad that the last member of the Calapooyan (I prefer this spelling of the many, as I lived in California, and have other artifacts from Yahooskin Paiute) tribe died in early 1900's, so now extinct...
