TOPIC: Can anyone ID this item?

Can anyone ID this item? 11 months 4 weeks ago #51382

This is my first post on the site and I'm looking forward to reading the posts here. I'm not sure if this is an indian artifact or not, but my feeling is that it could be. It was found at North Myrtle Beach, SC on the beach while hunting for sharks teeth and fossils. I also found a 4000 to 6000 year old spear point this past winter so I know indian artifacts are found there. My son-in-law seems to think it is a bolus. I will post some pictures and see what everyone thinks. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Forum. I would have to agree, that that stone, has been worked. I think it would
be pretty common to find nicely rounded stones on the beach, but that dimple on the end throws a wrench into
the mix. I was kind of thinking something like a nutting stone. Bolus is more of a generic medical term for
pills. Do you still have the spear? I'm no expert by any means, but there are plenty here. Gary

Welcome to the forum. I'll make a real wild guess: preform for a ball bannerstone?
