I found this in the "SPOT" a couple of years ago with my son. It is the best looking point I have and I would like some opinions on wht it is and age. It was really quite wierd how we found it. My son, being young at the time, did not have the patience to walk slow and keep an eye to the ground so I took him to the creek that ajoins the campsite and told him to look at the walls and look for small pointy objects sticking out as it may be a drill. He is ahead of me by 10 yards and yells "I found one Dad but it won't come out"!!! I hurry to the spot he is at and lo and behold he is tugging at a boar jaw with tusk attached!! We carefully dig out a pile of bones and as i am removing a rib bone there it lay ike a thing of beauty it is. I know it was just luck finding it there since hogs wern't introduced till 1539 in florida so i sexpect a presettler buried it and just happened to lay it next to the bones. Exiting to say the least and it makes a great story. here it is in all its glory( in my eyes at least)!! Thanks to everyone here this site is great!!

I that what would be called heat treated? If not I wonder what type of material this is. It is the only piece I have of that color. Maybe Jack or one of the other resident experts will jump on board and give us some information.

Looks like a Cupp - Late Woodland to Mississippian 600 to 1500 years old. Cupp have square to tapered shoulders, and a straight to slightly concave base The shoulders on yours is tapered and the base is straight.
Keep trying. I use a lot of reference books when I look at any points posted that I am not familiar with and make my decisions based on what I find out.
