I would say that it is indeed part of a bannerstone. Gorgeous piece of banded slate, that is for sure. Is ther any sign of a hole? or half of a hole, looking at your photo the remnant of a drilled hole should be on the left side. I bet your heart near stopped when you seen that peeping up at you!!! Thanks guys it had the blood pumping i found it on the edge on a bean field so i only seen the top point....oh well still love it lol
