TOPIC: Stone With Paint on it

Stone With Paint on it 9 months 2 weeks ago #56576

This was found about ten years ago near Waco Texas at my aunts farm. Looks to be some kind of paint on only one side of this rock! Im pretty positive its a indian artifact, but not sure what purpose it would have served...

What you have is what is called a painted pebble. These are rare. I would like to have a better look at the splotch of material at the top of the stone. It looks like dried out human skin, but would have to be put under a microscope to be sure. Yours may have been part of a grave offering.

These were found by Morris Carter in the Big Bend area, in caves that had human remains.

Do not go north of Waco. I have family there. Sometimes those painted stones would be laid on top of the body and as the body decomposed the skin would sometimes fuse with the artifact as it dried out.

Human skin is a bit fanciful.... Maybe if it was a cave find.
