A good friend of mine found this slate axe just last week.  Tom has hunted the Reedsburg area of Wayne Count Ohio for many years.  A couple years back he found a nice 5 1/2" rectangle gorget.  Last week (February 2009) he topped that find with a PERFECT HIGHLY POLISHED 4" SLATE AXE WITH A RAZOR BIT!!!  It measures 4" long 3/4" thick and 1 1/2" tall.  The banding is beautiful.  I was shocked to see the immaculate condition of this piece considering it is slate, an axe, and a total field find.
