Collector Spotlight- Cgode

Do you have a collection and don't know what it is worth?

September 2024

We haven’t had a Moderator as our MOTM for a while. So as I was looking at the membership for this months Recipient I came across “CGODE” one of our Moderators who was never nominated. cgode as he calls himself joined arrowheads.com in June 2011 and it’s about time we honor him so take it away cgode.

I’m a 59 year old guy recently retired from a career in emergency services. I retired as a Captain of a fire department after 28.5 years, was a paramedic and served as a SWAT team medic for the last 15 years of my career. Those hats have been hung up!

I used to hunt deer passionately for many decades and I’m still an avid fisherman. My wife, son and daughter also keep me busy and especially the daughter cost me a ton of money … she is in nursing school and crushing it! It’s all good!

Ive always had an interest in NA artifacts and always wanted to find an arrowhead but never knew how to look for them. As a result I got a late start into actually knowing how to go about it….a friend of mine and I were sitting around his work shop one night having a couple beers and out of a hidden drawer he pulls out a tray of arrowheads! I was amazed and enthralled holding them. He took me to a spot a few days later and although I didn’t find any “arrowheads” that day, I did find scraper/knife form which at the time I didn’t realize how special it actually was. It’s still one of my best tools I’ve found and now, appreciate what it really is…..I was hooked! living in New England is a difficult place to find artifacts. Most of the farms now just grow hay, no turned fields in my area and our lithics are poor….but, as I’ve found out….there are really cool artifacts here to be found and there certainly are plenty of examples of exotic high quality lithics that were traded and made their way into our region. Internet searches eventually landed me here at Arrowheads.com where I have made some good friends, some I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in person and hunting pointy rocks together, others are my invisible internet friends and I’ve become quite attached to them…this is a great place as I’ve learned a lot and have helped others when I can.
