Register PALEO Artifact Sites Found in Kentucky.
Saturday August 24th 5pm at Barren River State Park in the basement of the Lodge.
Featuring…
A significant addition to the Paleo Indian record of Kentucky is being provided by a team of archaeologists, working in Hart and Hardin counties in Kentucky. A presentation detailing their work will be held in the basement of the Barren River Lodge on Saturday evening, August 24th at 5:00 pm CST. The team consists of Steven Boles, University of Illinois; Tom Jennings and Ashley Smallwood, University of Louisville; and Ryan Parish, University of Memphis. Ryan Parish is conducting a chert source data bank study. Jennings and Smallwood have conducted field schools focusing on the Copelin Valley Clovis Site, and the Melrose Clovis Site, which are part of the Nolin River Paleo Indian Complex. Artifacts associated with the sites are from the collections of Perry Hagan and James Powell will be displayed.
